A series influenced by Maisie Cousins and slut-shaming. I wanted to explore media beauty standards and how magazines over edit women’s photographs to fit this narrow standard; a lot of the time, the women in the final edit looks nothing like how she normally does. I used a male subject in the majority of these photographs to exaggerate how shocking these beauty standards are. If I only used female models the final edits wouldn’t look that shocking as we are so used to seeing Photoshopped women it has become normal, but apply the same beauty standards and editing to a male model and the changes are much more obvious. I also dressed both models in all pink clothing and red lipstick to amplify the feminine stereotype.
